Beschreibung - Macquarie University / Australien

Seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1964 wird an der Macquarie University besonderer Wert auf Innovation und internationales Engagement gelegt. Die Universität investiert intensiv in Lehre und Forschung und den Aufbau enger Beziehungen zu Wirtschaft und Politik. Der parkähnliche Campus bietet ein ideales Studienumfeld. Direkt auf dem Campus befindet sich der Macquarie Research Park mit Forschungsprogrammen und –projekten für die Studenten. Das Besondere am Study Abroad Programm der Macquarie University ist, dass man hier einen Study Abroad Abschluss machen kann, ein so genanntes SA Certificate. Außerdem gibt es ein kombiniertes Praktikum/Study Abroad Programm, bei dem man als ein Bestandteil des Studiums ein Praktikum in Sydney absolvieren kann.

Established in 1964, Macquarie is distinguished by the range and quality of its course offerings. The university offers world-class courses in areas such as commerce, linguistics, psychology and environmental science.

The university’s Master of Applied Finance program, for example, is the world’s largest, and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program has been ranked as one of the best in the Asia-Pacific region. In the 2009 London Financial Times Worldwide Executive Education Survey on Executive Education the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) was ranked # 1 in Australia (# 39 world-wide) for Public Programs, # 2 in Australia (# 44 world-wide) for Combined Executive Education, and # 3 in Australia (# 59 world-wide) for customised programs.

Scholarships
Macquarie University has one of the most generous scholarship programs in Australia, and provides opportunities each year to many students to undertake studies at Macquarie University. Macquarie University International Scholarship (MUIS) aims to attract outstanding students from around the world to study at Macquarie. There are up to 40 full-tuition scholarships available each year to cover international tuition fees for study on campus at an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree.

Campus location and facilities
Macquarie is a thriving community of over 32,000 students – including 8,900 international students, and is located on 135 hectares of parkland, 30 minutes drive north-west of Sydney’s harbour and central business district. The modern, well-equipped campus hosts a research park in collaboration with industry, a new Sport and Aquatic centre, a dedicated university train station, has wireless hot spots across campus, and is adjacent to a large shopping centre. Quality student accommodation is available both on- and off-campus.

Internships@Macquarie offers Study Abroad, Exchange and a selection Master and Bachelor students the opportunity to undertake an internship for academic credit while completing their studies at Macquarie University. Our program includes a practical work placement, academic assessments and professional development training. Internships offer a unique opportunity to gain work experience from Australia and placements are offered in diverse fields such as Business administration, Marketing, Media, International relations, Public relations and IT.

International Short Courses
Macquarie University runs the largest student mobility program in Australia. The program is supported by the Vice-Chancellor's Travel Grant Scheme, a multi-million dollar scholarship program to assist students in undertaking an international experience while at Macquarie. It is the most generous program of its kind among Australian universities. All programs are available to both Australian and international students. As an international student at Macquarie you will have the opportunity to study regionally specific courses at prestigious partners around the world.

Studying a one year Master degree at Macquarie provides students with many overseas opportunities. Students studying programs in the Faculty of Business in programs such as International Business or Commerce for example can go overseas for a short course of between 3 - 6 weeks during university semester break periods. Popular short course destinations are for example La Salle University, Mexico and Fudan University, China. The short courses are fully credited back to your Master degree at Macquarie.

Macquarie has a dedicated International Student Services team, who can help with almost any enquiry - accommodation, health cover, fees, social activities, study skills workshops, and personal welfare. International Student Services provide a comprehensive orientation program for all international students at the beginning of each semester, and organises social events throughout the year.

Im Postgraduate Bereich können Kurse teilweise am Int. College of Management in Manly absolviert werden.

Seit Mitte 2007 besteht der neueste Campus der Macquarie University. Neben Bachelor Programmen wird dort insb. der Master of International Business angeboten. Hervorzuheben ist, dass 3 Studienbeginne pro Jahr (März, Juli, November) möglich sind.

Macquarie Graduate School of Management
Graduate School of Management
Graduierte können an der Graduate School of Management (MGSM) den Master of Business Administration mit diversen Spezialisierungen sowie den Master of Management und den Master of Electronic Commerce Management machen.
Im bekannten Ranking der London Financial Times wird die MGSM als eine der führendes Business Schools Australiens geführt. Weltweit gehört die MGSM zu den Top 45 Business Schools auf dem Gebiet Executive Education. Auch auf den Gebieten Public Programs (No 1 in Australien, No 39 weltweit), Combined Executive Education (No 2 in Australien, No 44 weltweit) und Customized Programs (No 3 in Australien, No 59 weltweit) schneiden die Programme der MGSM hervorragend ab.

Computing, Engineering and Technology
In diesen Studienbereichen werden Abschlüsse in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computing and Information Systems, Electronics Engineering, Information and Communications Systems, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Optoelectronics, IT Consulting, Photonics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering und Wireless Engineering angeboten.

Health and Human Sciences
In diesem Studienbereich können Abschlüsse in Advanced Surgery, Chiropractic Science, Health, Medical Sciences (Biology, Medical Chemistry oder Psychomedical), Neuroscience, Speech and Hearing Science oder Psychology erworben werden.

Humanities and Society, Culture, Media and Philosophy
Dieser Studienbereich bietet Abschlüsse in Arts mit über 50 Schwerpunkten, Ancient History, Creative Arts (International Studies), Recording Arts, International Communication, Media in Visual Production, Multimedia oder Writing, Music and Media, Policing, Intelligence & Counter Terrorism, Social Science, Media and Cultural Studies an.

Law
In diesem Studienbereich gibt es neben Abschlüssen in Laws diverse Doppelabschlüsse.

Science
